     Abstract This paper is the first part of the research on development of knowledge-based system for Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Greater Mekong Sub-region using semantic web and geographic information system. It aims to develop an ICH knowledge framework which eventually will be used for ontology-based system to assist the construction of knowledge structure of ICH knowledge which is stored in various sources and formats. ICH knowledge domain was classified and grouped by the associated meanings of the topics. ICH knowledge, therefore are divided into five sub-knowledge domain and seventy-seven classes. The five sub-domains included Oral traditions, Performing arts, Social practices, rituals and festive events, Knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe, and Skills to produce traditional crafts. The ontology of ICH knowledge domain then was constructed using HOZO ontology editor software. This ontology will be used for the future development of a knowledge-based system for ICH.
