| บทคัดย่อ |
This paper explores the characteristics of the Phu Tai transnational ethnic network. The phenomenon of the Phu Tai congregations is explored through ethnographic research. A multi-sited data collection method was employed to collect data from prominent Phu Tais and stakeholders of whom the latter are individuals playing vital roles in Phu Tai ethnic events. The data collections were conducted during the four ethnic events, namely, (1) the 6th Phu Tai World Day in Sakon Nakhon Province, (2) the 7th Phu Tai World Day in Yasothon Province, (3) the 3rd International Phu Tai Day in Kalasin Province, and (4) the International Yao Festival in Kalasin Province. According to the research, there are three characteristics of the Phu Tai transnational ethnic network: (1) The Phu Tai transnational ethnic network has been formed on the basis of Phu Tai groups, who had different goals for the congregations. (2) Relationships among Phu Tai people and memberships of the established network were constructed through a new meaning of ethnicity. And (3) Relationships among various groups of Phu Tai are not only grounded by interactions among themselves, but their relationships are also linked to the power of nation-states, particularly the Thai state, which has attempted to manage the established ethnic network of the Phu Tai. |
