บทคัดย่อ This article explores adaptation of women who left behind in international migrant households. Qualitative research methodology was adopted in the study, and unit of analysis consisted of individual, household, and community. Key informants included 1) 20 of wives of migrants who have worked abroad at least 1 year, and 2) 10 of community leaders included village headman, the sub-district headman, members of the sub-district administrative organization, and the village seniors. Research area was a village located in Koh Tai Sub-district, SawangDaendin District, Sakon Nakhon Province. The village had a long history of international migration, and households in village were Thai-Lao ethnic and Phu Tai ethnic households. Data was collected during January to February 2019. Data analysis employed the content analysis method, and descriptive analysis was applied to data presentation. Research results found that women or wives of international migrant workers adapted themselves in situation that husbands sent regular remittance to households at origin country. Women had economic adaptation by accumulating assets, changing occupation in order to seek advantage in life. In case of women who faced with difficulties when husbands could not send remittance to households, women played role as a main workforce for households, parents, and their relatives. Women worked hardly to earn additional income. Women had social adaptation by creating social relation with husband, contacting with organization related to husband’s international migration, and creating acceptance from the community.
