The theory of MOS transistors is reviewed. Process technologies are presented with an emphasis on CMOS circuit fabrication. Electrical and physical characteristics of circuits and clocking and IO structures are studied. Subsystem design of PLA's, adders, counters, ROM and RAM will be examined. Extensive use of CAD tools will give the student hands-on experience with systems typical of those used in industry. Through the University's membership in the Canadian Microelectronics Corporation, students are given the opportunity to submit designs for IC fabrication, where appropriate.
