     Abstract Mathematics is composed of a large set of highly related abstractions, if teachers do not know how to translate those abstractions into a form that enables learners to relate the mathematics to what they already know, they will not learn with understanding (Fenema & Franke, 1992). In the past decade the mathematics education community has been increasingly seeing representations as “useful tools for communicating both information and understanding” (NCTM, 2000). Goldin (2003) defined representation as a configuration of signs, characters, icons, or objects that stand for, or “represent” something else. Historically, fractions were the basis of understanding and reasoning with percentages decimals and proportions (Galen, V. F., 2008). The aim of the study is to explore teacher’s knowledge of mathematical representations in teaching fractions at the elementary school in Thailand. The main data is conducted by questionnaire with elementary school mathematics teachers as two step of question. First step, a question focus on knowledge of mathematical representation in general belongs to the curriculum. For the second step, a question is focus on knowledge of mathematical representation for teaching fractions. The result will provide data of teacher who knowing in detailed and well describe for the meaning of mathematical representation. And how they use mathematical representation in their teaching of fractions.
