Abstract Li0.05Al0.02Ni0.93O (abbreviated as LANO) ceramics were prepared by sol-gel process with varying the calcining temperatures (800 -1200 0C) for 4 h. Dried gels and calcined powders were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR). The LANO sintered samples were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscope. Dielectric properties were also investigated. All LANO sintered samples exhibited the single phase of cubic rock-salt NiO structure. The surface morphologies of all sintered samples revealed the dense and uniform-spherical grains with the size of 1-6 µm, that decreased with increasing the calcining temperature. The dielectric constants of all LANO samples decreased steadily over the measured frequency range, in which the sample calcined at 800 0C showed the highest dielectric constant of 1.27 x 105 at 1 kHz and 30 0C.
