Investigation of the chemical constituents from the fruits of Derris indica (Luguminosae) yielded three known flavonoids, karanjin (I), karanjachromene (II), demethoxykanugin (III) and four known chalcones,tuni-catachalcone (IV),pongamol (V),obovatachalcone (VI) andovalichalcone (VII). The structures of all isolated compoundswere elucidated by 1D (1H, 13C-NMR), 2D NMR (COSY, HMBC and HMQC), IR and MS spectroscopic analysis. Pongamol(V) showed moderate cytotoxicity against KB cell line with an IC50 valueof 8.94 µg/ml and compounds IV and VI also exhibited moderatecytotoxicity against this cell line with IC50 values of18.34 and 14.74 µg/ml, respectively. |
