     Abstract This article was to analyze the structures of communicative situations in Mahachat chanting, and to analyze the factors of communicative situations in Mahachat chanting. The study found that communicative situations in Mahachat chanting written by Phra Khru Sutasaraphimon and others were composed of 11 communicative situations in order, such as praise to the Triple Gem, receiving the precepts, request for chanting, role playing by preachers, chanting for telling era, Mahachat chanting according to story, Isan chapter for farewell, exclamation of approval (Sathukan) after finishing chanting, giving offerings and gifts to a monk, blessing and libation in Pali, and saying farewell by Buddhists. These communicative situations were classified by using the objective as criteria. According to the analysis of 10 factors of communicative situations in Mahachat chanting could be concluded that main participants in communicative situations of Mahachat chanting were preacher team, leaders of religious ceremony, and Buddhists participating in listening to chanting. Place of communicative situations were a sermon hall arranged Mahachat festival in the 4th lunar month from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on the topic of Mahachat Chadok. Main objective was to implant virtue and belief in making merits, giving alms, and dedication. Main content of communicative situations was the transfer of story on Mahachat Chadok. Message forms were composed of the usage of verbal and non-verbal language. There were 22 speech acts in communicative situations, such as salutation, greeting, introduction, blessing, etc. Interaction rules in the communication were occurred by respect and giving honor. Also, according to the standard of interpretation, preachers might have been admired by audiences when they had chanted melodiously and performed excellently in chanting.
