| Abstract |
This paper presents the meaning and understanding of “Community Wellbeing” from the local perspectives in the Northeast of Thailand. The concept of wellbeing has been more than 10 years in Thailand (8th NESDB plan) and the researches of happiness and wellbeing show the happiness and satisfaction are stable although the economy is increasing. Then this paper is implied through the dissertation titled the Development of Community Wellbeing Indicators of Rural Community in the Northeast of Thailand. This paper uses data from six focus group discussions (30 leaders). The results are the meaning of community wellbeing are several aspects; four aspects which are 1.community capital 2.trust 3.social inclusion and 4.social empowerment. In addition, the community wellbeing evaluation from the leaders (0-10 scales) (0 = unhappiness and 10 = very happiness) shows that community wellbeing is moderate in four reasons; which are 1.hard-working 2.help with each other 3.relative and 4.leader, and the most happiness is focus on the good relation in the community. This paper will contribute to a future research about community wellbeing indicators and a decision making tools for social policy in local level. |
