บทคัดย่อ Conservation Agriculture (CA) technology has been proven to address food security at household level especially for small holders in developing countries amid climate change which leads to fluctuations in crop productivity. Lesotho is one of less developed countries that suffers from low crop yields due to long periods of drought and rains which bring situations of food insecurity. As a result, the government of Lesotho through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) in partnership with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) introduced CA technology in order to convince Lesotho farmers to shift from conventional tillage to CA. However, few of them are willing to adopt CA since only 24% of farmers have adopted CA throughout the country. The paper’s aim was to find out factors that lead to adoption and non – adoption of CA technology at Morija village. Studies show that in Morija, out of 300, only 11 farmers adopted CA and 289 rejected it. The study interviewed two groups of farmers where all 11 CA adopters were included in the interviews whereas the non – CA adopters were sampled using Taro Yamane’s formula which resulted in 39 non – CA adopters. A total of 50 farmers (11 CA adopters and 39 non – CA adopters) were included in the study. Questionnaires were designed and two groups of farmers were interviewed. A Focus Group Discussion for both groups were conducted for triangulation purpose. The data obtained are qualitative. The data were subjected to spreadsheet based on the themes that emerged from the interviews and translations of interview scripts and presented in charts. The results show time saving, less work load, easy management of crops and low labour requirements as factors leading to adoption whereas those that lead to non – adoption (rejection) are lack of irrigating water, weeding and lack of interest.
