| Abstract |
This study examines the relationship between women on the board and firm performance of the listed companies in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). This study examines the relationship between women on the board and firm performance of the listed companies in SET. We employ the observed data on SET Index firms based on 7 industries of 338 companies in 2013. For the study of the association between gender diversity in the board and firm performance, the estimation was conducted by two- stage least- squares technique, using return on asset (ROA) as the well-known performance measurement technique. The results are presented significantly of the relationship between gender diversity and firm performance. While group of Agro & Food, Technology, Services and Consumer Products are related to firm performance in Thai listed companies. The study contributes to the novel understanding of the relationship between the women on board and firm performance of Thai listed companies which uses a variant of the diversity women board. The experimental result is consistent with the corporate governance principles of listed companies on SET in 2012 which focus on the gender diversity of the board. The study helps to add more values to the corporate governance of country by the relationship found of gender diversity which affects to the firm performance in the whole industry and in some industries. |
