| Abstract |
This article seeks to understand the informal community employment through diversity of livelihoods in the transitional peri-urban areas. The context building on a new area was promoted by the public designated of household-to-household in the Lao PDR. A small community, but it was highly transitional economic meaningful of peri-urban remote area leads to the essence of informal employment activities. The paper drawn on a qualitative method is taken to outline—an in-depth interview with 20 key informants at least five-distinct groups (e.g. kinship workers, self-employed workers, combine-workers, neighboring workers, and industrial outworkers). The data were then analyzed using the contextual content analysis was done using the ATLAS.ti program. We found a two-distinct groups are positive and three- distinct are negative of community livelihood extends to enabling higher life quality oriented. In the first group, kinships are highly livelihood-involved of informal community employment. In the second group, the combines workers are actively engaged in developing craft for income generation require a livelihood. In spite of negative community building livelihood being created pursues supply-and demand side of employment activities. In the third group, self-employed workers are lowly capable transformed their assets into livelihood in employment activities. In the fourth group, which involves of neighboring workers are based on the type of employment constantly confront in seasonality. In the fifth group, involving industrial outworks are risk adjusted in the increasing non-subcontract, seasonality, employment activity and uncertain income. It concludes with the informal employment in the community livelihood which are discussed each group were achieving their livelihoods. |
