Abstract |
The aims of this research were: (1) to develop the research-mindedness measurement model of undergraduate students from the faculty of education at universities in the northeastern region of Thailand (2) to verify the quality of this research-mindedness scale. Research instrument was the research-mindedness scale which consisted of 2 sections including the Likert rating scale and the Multiple Choices Test with 3 multiple choice items. Data collection was conducted in 2 phases. The first phase focused on verifying the construct validity through the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) based on the Orthogonal Rotation and Varimax Approach. Sample selected by Cluster Random Sampling Technique, was 890 third and fourth year undergraduate students of faculty of education from 7 universities. The findings of this phase revealed the three factors of research-mindedness scale which included: (1) curiosity and interest consisted of 4 sub-factors dividing into 18 items, (2) fairness and ethic consisted of 4 sub-factors dividing into 12 items, and (3) critical thinking consisted of 11 sub-factors dividing into 33 items. The second phase emphasized on verifying the quality of the scale towards the construct validity through the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using the sample of 800 students. The Structural validity using second order confirmatory factor analysis showed the model fit well with the empirical data set (Chi-square = 232.27, df = 149, p-value =0.00, TLI = 0.973, CFI = 0.977, RMSEA = 0.027, and SRMR =0 .030) |
