Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the few types of cancer for which both primary and secondary prevention are possible. The main objective of this study was to examine whether individuals with a family history of cancer, were more likely to have knowledge on the colorectal cancer than those with no relatives diagnosed with cancer. Data were gathered from 509 participants with in colorectal cancer screening using immunochemical fecal occult blood test (iFOBT) in Thai population aged 45-74 years old: A population-based randomized controlled trial. The questionnaire-based interviewed was used to collect information. Multiple logistic regressions were used to test for the association. A total subjects with a mean age of 60 (59.4, (± 7.60)) years. In a final model of multiple logistic regression, there was not statistically significant difference between participants who had or did not have the family history of cancer and knowledge about colorectal cancer; adjusted OR = 1.71 (95% CI = 0.19-14.86) and P-value = 0.62. Knowledge was slightly higher in participants who did not have relatives diagnosed with cancer but not statistical significant. The study found that there was no association between individuals with a family history of cancers with the knowledge about colorectal cancer. However knowledge was slightly higher in a group did not have relatives diagnosed with cancer, this may reflect the risk of self-care behaviors. In order to raise awareness in the population, health personnel should concern on this matter and health education is necessary.
