Abstract The objective of this study was to determined effects of salinity stress on some physiological characteristics in gac. Gac seedling were grown for 2 months and then irrigated with 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM NaCl. Seedlings were subjected to salinity stress for 2 months. The results showed that salinity stress have no effect on total sugar content and SOD activity. However, 200 mM NaCl increased GPX and CAT activities but reduced chlorophyll content compared to other groups. Increasing NaCl concentration resulted in higher electrolyte leakage, especially in 200 mM. It is, therefore, concluded that gac can be grown in soil that have NaCl concentrations no more than 150 mM indicated by maintaining of chlorophyll content, electrolyte leakage and antioxidant enzyme activities.
