Abstract Micro and small manufacturing industries (MSMI) has a very vital role in economic development in Indonesia. This is caused the labor intensity is relatively higher and the investment amount is relatively small. Therefore, efforts MSMI can be more flexible and adapt to market changes. MSMI is not overly affected by external pressure, because it can be responsive to seize opportunities for import substitution and increase domestic supplies. MSMI development can contribute to the diversification of the industry and accelerating changes in the structure as a pre-condition of long-term economic growth, which it is stable and sustainable. Therefore, it is necessary an effort to evaluate the performance MSMI continuously and sustainably. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance of MSMI in Indonesia. The method used in this research is the Input-Oriented Envelopment Analysis Model. The results of this research indicated that MSMI in Indonesia as a whole are in a state of 43% efficient and inefficient by 57%. Micro manufacturing industries are in an efficient condition by 61% and the inefficiency of 39%. Small manufacturing industries are in an efficient condition by 48%, and inefficient by 52%. It is necessary for many efforts to improve the performance of MSMI. Thereby MSMI as a pillar of the economy in Indonesia will be able to continue to develop better, because they are able to maintain the viability of the company for growing and compete in the face of global competition that is very tight. Keywords: Performance evaluation, MSMI
