บทคัดย่อ The biochemical quality of organic residues resulted in controlling the change of chemical composition of soil organic carbon (SOC). The purpose of this study was to assess SOC composition in tropical sandy soil after 22 years application of biochemical contrasting organic residues using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy compared to 13 years treated soil. Soil samples consisted of control (no residue addition), groundnut stover (high nitrogen (N), low lignin (L) and polyphenol (Pp)), tamarind litter (intermediate contents of N, L and Pp), rice straw (low N, L and Pp but high cellulose) and dipterocarp leaf litter (low N, high L and Pp). The results showed that organic residue cellulose was negatively correlated with C-OH of aliphatic OH, C-O stretching of aliphatic ether, C-O stretching of polysaccharides, C-O stretching of vinyl ether and C-C stretching. However, the result of SOC composition in 13 years treated soil showed none of significantly correlation of organic residue cellulose with these band representing organic functional group but, showed the positive correlation between organic residue N and aliphatic C-H stretching, carbohydrate overtones of C-OH stretching and aromatic C-H out of plane bending instead. Moreover, the result of 13 years treated soil showed the negative correlation between organic residue N and C-O of phenolic OH, C-H deformation of CH2 and CH3 groups, COO- antisymmetric stretching of some aromatic organic acids, e.g., malonic and/or benzoic acids, C-N of aromatic amide II. Besides, the additional bands representing organic functional groups in 22 years treated soil including C-N stretching amine, -NH2/-NH structure in aliphatic primary and secondary amides, C-I stretching halo compound and C-O-C deformation of aliphatic ethers were also found when compared to 13 years treated soil. These findings indicate that SOC composition changes associated with application period of biochemical contrasting organic residues.
