Abstract |
Obesity is closely related to atherosclerosis, which starts from childhood in obese children and develops into adulthood. Sports interventions will reduce obesity and atherosclerosis. Purpose: To investigate the effect of FIFA 11+ Kids on BMI, VO2max, hs-CRP and lipid profiles in obese children. Method: One group pre- and post test design was conducted on obese children aged 9-10 years. Twenty one subjects followed 8-weeks FIFA 11+ Kids. The
anthropometric, VO2max test, and blood samples for hs-CRP and lipid profile were taken before and after 8 weeks intervention. Results: Twenty students completed the intervention. There were significant differences on BMI (decreased 0.6 kg/m2), VO2max (increased 1.66 ml/kg/min), LDL (decreased 13.5 mg/dl), and HDL (increased 7.5 mg/d) after intervention. But there were no significant difference on cholesterol, and hs-CRP before and after the intervention. Conclusions: FIFA 11+ Kids program reduced the body mass index and lipid profile and increased the VO2max, but there was no effect on hs-CRP level. |
