Abstract This article investigates social networks constructing among Vietnamese-Thai through capitals used in the Thailand-Laos bordering area. In-depth interview was used to interview key informants who included community seniors, Vietnamese-Thai, Thai, and Chinese-Thai people. Research results found that the Vietnamese-Thai people firstly created their social capital through kinship system. When State policy on Vietnamese immigration was lenient, the Vietnamese people were able to start their own business. They expanded the social network beyond their own ethnic group. Economic capital was accumulated by Vietnamese until they became big-scale entrepreneurs who had been influenced in the economy in the bordering area. However, the change of capital used among the Vietnamese was explored. Cultural capital was used to create their social network until the capital has become the city’s unique. These are the attempts of the Vietnamese in order to apply their capitals in several forms to create social space in Thai society.
