Abstract This study aimed to investigate the effects of a single bout of low-intensity exercise on lipid metabolism, malondialdehyde (MDA), F2Isoprostane, a marker of lipid peroxidation and vitamin C in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and poor glycemic control. Five patients with T2DM (HbA1c >8.5%) performed cycling exercise at low intensity (30% of peak oxygen consumption) for 20 minutes. Expired gas was collected during last 5 minutes of the exercise. Immediately before and after the exercise, venous blood samples were taken to determine HbA1c, plasma lipid profile, plasma MDA, plasma F2Isoprostane and plasma vitamin C concentrations. The descriptive statistic analysis and paired t test were used for data analysis. Their oxygen consumption during exercise is about 32 % of peak oxygen consumption. These patients used higher carbohydrate than fat during the low-intensity exercise. There were no significant changes in the plasma lipid profile, plasma MDA and plasma vitamin C concentrations after 20 minutes of the low-intensity exercise in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The results show that low-intensity exercise did not increase lipid peroxidationin patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and poor glycemic control
