The study aimed to explore the feasibility of using the 5-time seated push-up test (5PUT), and its correlation to mobility and muscle strength in 46 community-dwelling older individuals, aged 65 years and over. All participants were interviewed for their personal data, and assessed for their mobility and muscle strength using the timed up and go test (TUGT), the 10-meter walk test (10MWT), the 2-minute step test (2MST), handgrip test (HG test), the five-times sit-to-stand (FTSST), and the 5PUT in a random order. Any adverse events occurred during and after completing the 5PUT were also recorded. The relationship was analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficients (r). The findings indicated that all participants were well-functioning and they could complete the 5PUT without any adverse events. Time to complete the 5PUT was statistically correlated to outcomes of TUGT (r = .345 (p<0.05), 10MWT (r = -.362, p<0.05), 2MST (r = -.375, p<0.05), HG test (r = -.319, p<0.05), and FTSST (r = .503, p<0.001). The present findings confirm the feasibility and benefit of 5PUT, a simple and practical measure, to be used as an alternative clinical tool for well-functioning community-dwelling older individuals.
