Abstract The purpose of this article was to study the state of knowledge of research on border management in Thailand published from 8002to8012 . The historical research methodology was employed to analyze 21 documents, including research articles, master’s theses and doctoral dissertations obtained from online sources such as Thailis and E-library. The results revealed that the research on border management in this period focused on three aspects: security, economy and society. The research studies on border management in terms of security were mostly at the microlevel focusing on the study of illegal migrant workers at the Thai-Myanmar border. For the research on border management in terms of economy, it was mostly at the micro-level focusing on trade and investment policies at the Thai-Lao border. In terms of society, all studies were at the macro level focusing on the problems of public health services and cross-border relationships at the ThaiCambodian border.
