Abstract |
The accumulation of dust deposits on the solar panel is a factor that results in a decrease of solar power and a significant decrease in power over time. Depending on the environmental factors of the place. This research aims to analyze the efficiency trend of the 1 MW photovoltaic power station of Khon Kaen University (KKU) by collecting historical data from January 2019 to August 2021 in order to find the optimal time to clean the solar panels by quantifying optimal cleaning times to compare and assess the cost-effectiveness of cleaning.
The results showed the efficiency trend of the solar farm throughout the data collection period. The deterioration in the efficiency of solar panels will decrease every year, not more than 0.5%/year. Since the daily temperature is not the same and when entering the winter of each year around the end of October, the efficiency trend will begin to decline continuously with the accumulation of dust until the rainy season, around the beginning of March the efficiency will return to the same level. Cleaning date considering only the winter season is the period without continuous rain. According to the data, during the winter of 2020-2021, if panel cleaning is not performed, the electricity will lose was53, 309.83 kWh (190,156 ฿ baht). If the panels are cleaned 2 times, the electricity will lose at 17,513.51 kWh (88,471 ฿). If they are cleaned more than 2 times is not worth the cost of cleaning. Therefore, a proper cleaning is twice in winter, every 44–46day cycle is worth the cost of cleaning. The research results will be used as a practical guideline for cleaning solar panels in the solar farm of KKU. |
