| Abstract |
Transportation is an important part of a tourism system and is an indispensable prerequisite for tourism development. Against the background of the Laos-China Railway construction, based on previous studies on the impact of high-speed railways on regional tourism, a qualitative analysis method of in-depth interview was used to study the impact of the Laos-China Railway on tourism along the line in Laos. On this basis, using TOWS analysis, the conclusion can provide a basis for decision-making regarding the development of tourism along the Laos-China Railway. The results show that the opening of the Laos-China Railway will not only reduce the cross-province travel times, but also have an impact on the stay-time at tourist destinations; In terms of the impact on other transport systems, the impact on inter-provincial public transport such as aircraft and inter-provincial shuttle buses is great, but the impact on urban public transport is small; In terms of the influence upon travel behavior, people's travel patterns will be transformed from being single leisure travel to become a combination of leisure and family visits as the train will become the preferred means of transportation for inter-provincial travel in the regions along the line. By using TOWS analysis, this paper objectively analyzes the threats, opportunities, disadvantages and advantages of the operation of the China-Laos railway to the development of tourism along the line, constructs a TOWS matrix and puts forward five strategies for the development of tourism along the railway line according to the matrix analysis. |
