| บทคัดย่อ |
This article is part of a dissertation on cross-border families and multiple citizenship
construction from below in Thai-Lao border communities. The objective was to study the
construction of multiple citizenship of cross-border Thai-Lao families through practices related to
bi-local livelihoods. The study involved qualitative research within the phenomenology approach
using in-depth interviews with participatory and non-participatory observation. The participants,
totaling 5 0 persons, were selected using the snowball technique with those are cross border
relatives, community leaders, government officials and non-government organization staff. The
study found that many aspects of everyday life of cross border family members, sometimes called
‘Sing Song Fang,’ have been moving from Thailand to Laos. There are many patterns in crossing
the border, such as following the state, escaping the power of the state, and hiding from the state
in bi-local communities. Those who wish to live on both sides of the border without choosing
between them must construct multiple kinds of citizenship, such as cultural, economic, geo,
educational, ASEAN and global citizenship. |
