| Abstract |
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Management of bronchiectasis is still challenging due to heterogenicity and the complex disease nature. A better understanding of this disease is essential for proper management. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the characteristics and nature of lung function, health-related quality of life, and sputum expectoration in three different periods of the day. Method: six participants with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis were asked questionnaire-based assessment of health-related quality of life using the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease assessment test questionnaire (CAT), testing of the lung function, and collection of expectorated sputum in three different periods of a day (morning, daytime and night). Result and conclusion: Ineffective cough were found in 1 out of 4 patients who can perform lung function test. The symptoms and impacts sub-items of CAT score were mostly remarkable in our 6 non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. Additionally, no specific pattern of sputum production within a day was observed in this study although variation was present in each participant. |
