| Abstract |
The aim in this study is to investigate the effect of different post sintering treatments on the translucency parameter of three different translucent monolithic zirconia. Three-hundred-and-sixty specimens were prepared from 3Y-TZP (HT), 4Y-TZP (ST), and 5Y-TZP (UT). Specimens were sintered and divided into 4 groups (N = 30): as-sinter (AS), finishing and polishing (FP), finishing, polishing and glazing (FPG) and finishing, polishing and regeneration sintering (FPR). Translucency parameter (TP00) was evaluated. Microstructure and compositions were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy. The phase composition was determined by X-ray diffraction. There were significant differences for TP00 due to varied materials, post sintering treatments, and their interactions (p < 0.05). FPG and FPR caused a significant increase in TP00, whereas FP resulted in decrease. Tetragonal to monoclinic phase transformation was identified in FP group. Cubic phase was increase in FPG and FPR group. To improve the optical properties of polished zirconia, glazing and regeneration sintering is recommended. |
