Abstract |
Solid waste management has become a significant and challenging environmental issue, especially in Thailand, where waste are increasing rapidly. Effective waste management is therefore crucial and requires collaboration across all sectors. This research aims to study the success factors in addressing waste issues by Kaokloy Subdistrict Municipality, Na Klang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, and exploring ways to apply the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to waste management within the community. This study employs a Collaborative Governance approach, which integrates cooperation between the public sector, private sector, and community. Additionally, qualitative research methodology was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews with 15 voluntary selected participants, including local government officials, community leaders, and residents. The analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that success factors for waste management include the incentives to participate a supportive leadership that encourages collaboration, and the application of the 3R concept to reduce waste volume. It was also found that institutional design and clear collaborative processes play a significant role in enhancing waste management efficiency. This study suggests that Collaborative Governance should be a model for other local administrative organizations in developing effective and sustainable waste management systems. Building cooperation across all sectors and adapting the 3R concept to suit the context of each area are key to address sustainability community waste issues.
