Abstract This article aims to study the patterns of co-resident of the skipped-generation in Isan migrant families. The study has been conducted by the qualitative approach using in-depth interviews. The units of analysis are at the community level and the family level. The target groups of the study are 5 key informants, elderly persons, and children in 10 skipped-generation families. The research area is the Hin Sew Village, M.3 Baan Tin Sub-District, Non Sung District, Nongbualampoo Province. The results of the study found that the migration situation in Hin Sew village has continually occurred. This has affected the family structure, and has been the cause of skipped-generation families which have different components depending on the social status of the elderly persons and children. Patterns of the co-resident of the skipped-generation in Isan migrant families have been classified into 2 patterns, which are 1) the single grandparent in the skipped-generation family and 2) the couple grandparents in the skipped-generation family.
