Mobile applications are widely growing and highly competitive today. To create an interesting application, some techniques such as motion detection may be applied. Motion detection techniques are broadly used in mobile applications. They provide information of mobile device’s movements for developers to apply in various applications. For instance, movement information is used for rendering the proper graphic view or tracking users’ orientation. There is a wide range of sensor technologies available for motion detectors. A different type of sensors has different functionalities and features; therefore, it is appropriate for different applications. This work aims at constructing a motion detection framework for mobile devices (called MDF) to assist developers in choosing the most suitable sensors and techniques for their applications. Developers can use this framework to create their mobile applications that need motion detection feature such as AR games or AR applications. MDF also provides three AR games as sample projects to help developers understand the framework and reduce their learning and developing time. The results from this study appear to be promising, and confirm the usefulness of the framework. |
