Abstract The research is descriptive cross-sectional study. This study aimed to study noise levels, abnormal symptoms of noise exposure in workers and association between noise levels and abnormal symptoms of noise exposure in workers of paper plant. The research instruments included sound level meter and questionnaire for abnormal symptoms. The stratified random samples were 155 employees. Data were collected during January to March, 2017. The results revealed that sound level measurement Leq) 8 hour work day( TWA) were 75.5-89.4 dB(A)). Department of Energy was the high area sound level with 89.4 dB(A) Department of Maintenance support was the lower area sound level with 75.5 dB(A) The maximum sound level Lmax) were 80.7 - 97.9 dB(A)) found in the area maximum was department of chemical recovery with 97.9 dB(A) Department of Pulp was the lower area sound level with 80.7 dB(A). The study of abnormal symptoms of noise exposure in workers by interviewing with 1 symptom were 30.32%, two abnormal symptoms were 21.94% and more than or equal three abnormal symptoms were 47.74%. Most abnormal symptoms were stress, headaches, tinnitus, no concentration, dizzy. The correlations between noise levels and abnormal symptoms of noise exposure in workers of paper plant are no statistically significant. To prevent sound levels exceed the standard at the factory. It should encourage ongoing hearing conservation projects by periodic evaluation. The abnormal symptoms found should be monitored and organize regular health check-ups for employees. This is the information that can be used to monitor and develop the plant health program.
