| Abstract |
Cambodia LGBT community is still vulnerable and often exposed to all form of discriminations against gender identities and sexual orientation which is arising from prejudice, tradition, lack of acceptance and understanding of gender diversity from family, community, and society. The study has identified the types of sexual orientation discrimination and analysis of possible impacts by conducting qualitative methods. The results show that LGBT remains victims of direct, indirect discrimination and harassment. Moreover, they do not receive fairness and equal protection as same as the general population. Consequently, LGBT lives in misery and fear of being insulted, attacked, and subjected to violence and oppression, which end up with poverty and inequality. Discriminatory caused and affected to a loss of valuable and potential human capital and led to create negative impacts related to individual, family, and community. To achieve the equitable and sustainable development is to address the LGBT issue and pay great attention to eliminate all form of discrimination to ensure fairness, equality, dignity and social justice toward the rights of LGBT people. |
