Elevated Concentration of Serum Cyclophilin A in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

| บทคัดย่อ |
Cyclophilin A (CypA) is a secreted protein which produced from various kind of cell types in response to oxidative stress. The elevation of CypA is related to pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases such as, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), which may be used as a prognosis marker for advance stage of the disease. In this study we investigated whether serum CypA level is altered in patients with CKD. We explored the level of serum CypA from 358 cases (137, 105, and 116 cases from non-CKD group, early stage, and late stage of CKD, respectively) by using indirect ELISA technique. The associated factors were analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis. The level of CypA concentration were statistically significant higher in developing renal inflammatory patients (late stage of CKD group) than non-CKD group (p < 0.001). Fasting blood sugar (FBS), HbA1C, systolic blood pressure (SBP), and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were associated with the elevation of serum CypA level. The multivariate analysis revealed that an early (adjusted OR 1.350, 95%CI: 1.093, 1.667) and late (adjusted OR 1.415, 95%CI: 1.103,1.811) stage of CKD had higher serum CypA level than non-CKD group. Therefore, the level of CypA in a serum could be associated with a progression of CKD and related with other risk factors (FBS, HbA1C, and SBP) of CKD, which effect to the development of renal inflammation. Our results indicate that serum CypA level may represent as a screening factor for predicting the severity of early and late stage of CKD. |
