     Abstract Aging population trends to be high in all over the world. Most of older adults with depression are the most common mental and emotional disorder. These occur at the end of life. Thus, this study aims to early identification of the prevalence and the factors associated with depression among older adults. The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2020. The sample size was 412 participants who are aged 60 years and over in Hue, Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam. The questionnaire includes demographic questionnaires, co-morbidity, Katz activities of daily living index, the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Geriatric Depression Scale 15. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the characteristics of participants, chi-square was performed to assess the relationship between depression and categorical variables. The proportion of depression of participants was 34.2% (M= 4.03; SD= 3.00), particularly, mild depression was 21.4 %, moderate depression was 6.8%, and severe depression was 6.1%. The findings of the study demonstrated that there was a significant association between age groups, gender, living arrangement, income, co-mobility, ADL, social support with depression among older adults, with p <0.001. However, in the multivariate logistic regression model, the results showed that only gender, income, co-mobility, social support has sigificantly associated with depression. Factors like older age, female, living alone, low income, co-mobility, impaired function, low social support were associated with depression among older adults. Thus, the finding will provide nurse staffs, who can take care of older adults effectively and also suggest the government to increase support for these subjects were needed to prevent the depression among older adults.
