     Abstract This descriptive correlational study aimed to describe the prevalence of adolescent depression and explain selected variables as predictors to depression in adolescents of Samarinda municipal, East Kalimantan province, Indonesia. A total of 552 adolescents in senior high school aged from 14 to 19 years were recruited through stratified cluster sampling during March to April, 2015. The instruments were CES-D, Negative Automatic Thoughts, Social Problem Solving, Negative Life Events and Parental Bonding. The data were analyzed by statistical method including t-test, Chi-square, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regressions. The result showed the prevalence of depression in this sample of Indonesian adolescents was 52.7% (26.6% female, 26.1% male). The stepwise regression results indicated the negative life events and educational level as significant predictors of adolescents depression and included in the fit model R² 7.7% (F= 22.84, p=0.000). Specifically, the psychiatric nurse able to gives interventions for adolescents with teach of stress management and negative life events screening program in the early education level.
