     Abstract In this study, the optimal conditions of microwave hydro-diffusion and gravity (MHG) to extract the essential oil from Zingiber officinale Rosc (Ginger) were investigated. MHG has been compared with hydrodistillation (HD) in terms of extraction time, chemical composition, cost and energy of the operation.
