| บทคัดย่อ |
This article was aimed at investigating the factors that determine the working patterns of commuters who worked in the service sector in a major city in the Northeast. The quantitative research method was used, with the analysis unit at the individual level. The population was composed of the commuters who work in the city of Khon Kaen, from which 1,013 samples were obtained from the sub-secondary data of the Demographic Migration Survey Project, National Statistical Office. The data was collected from October thru December 2019. The descriptive analysis was applied in addition to Binary Logistic Regression Analysis to analyze the working patterns of the commuters working in the service sector in the major city. The research results showed that 52.5 percent of the commuters were males, and 44.7 percent were the Generation X (aged 44–54 years). Over three-fourths were married, 57.7 percent completed elementary education, and most, 61.3 percent, were employers and held their own businesses. The majority of the commuters (47.8%) commuted from one rural area to another. 56.0 and 29.8 percent, respectively, worked in the agricultural and service sectors. The education level of most females was at the associate degree level or bachelor’s degree equivalent, and they worked as employees for private enterprises and commuted from rural areas to the city. The monthly traveling cost significantly determined their working patterns at the statistical level of 0.05. All independent variables explained the variation of the working patterns in the service sector of the commuters in the major city in the Northeast of Thailand at 33.4 percent (R2 = 0.334). |
