Abstract The study aimed to investigate the extent of students’ vocabulary knowledge and their attitudes towards the implementation of semantic mapping with TGT (the intervention used in the study). Employing a mixed-method approach, a single group pre-test and post- test design was utilized to gather comprehensive data. The sample comprised 20 ninth- grade students who were purposively selected as participants from Yangkampittayakom School in Khon Kaen province. The research instruments used were the pre- and post- English vocabulary tests, a student attitude towards the intervention questionnaire, semi- structured interviews, and observation field notes. The study findings yielded substantial evidence indicating a marked improvement in students’ vocabulary knowledge subsequent to the implementation of semantic mapping with TGT as indicated by the students’ pre-test (x=13.95) and post-test (x=24.95) scores. With regard to the students’ attitude questionnaire, results demonstrated a noteworthy increase in their disposition towards the intervention used as reflected by a post-mean score of 3.67, which can be interpreted as indicative of agreement. It can be concluded that the utilization of semantic mapping with TGT constitutes an effective strategy for improving the students’ vocabulary knowledge as well as positively enhancing their attitudes towards the intervention.
