Abstract The study focuses on the food security of urban poor households in Khon Kaen Province. The objective is to investigate the food security situation of these households within the area. A qualitative research methodology was employed, gathering data from documents and fieldwork. Semi-structured in-depth interviews and non-participatory observations were utilized, involving 10 participants. The data was analyzed at the household level using categorization and classification processes, segmented by the study's focus areas. After that, the data were compared, and conclusions were made using content analysis principles to conclude based on how the data were interpreted and theoretically explained. The study on the food security situation of urban poor households in Khon Kaen Province found sufficient food security to meet their bodies' needs, as they have never experienced food shortages. In this context, when considering food security within urban poor households, the focus is on 1) the availability of food and food sources. These households obtain food from natural resources, self-production, buying and selling, and donations; 2) regarding direct and immediate access to food, there are self-produced and commercial food sources that can be accessed directly and immediately. In contrast, for natural food sources and donated food, access may take longer; 3) concerning the beneficial consumption of food for the body, household members regularly consume nutritious food while simultaneously consuming food that can be harmful to the body; and 4) in terms of problem-solving or adaptation, urban poor households adjust by reducing the quantity and variety of food quality to save money to purchase food for the following day.
