| บทคัดย่อ |
AIMS: The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of families on the existence of the child with developmental disabilities (DD) in families, affected their family quality of life(FQOL).
METHODS: The study was conduct in one Northeast Thailand. The participants consisted of 31 families (aged 25-60 yeaes) who have a child with intellectual disability, cerebral palsy and autism (aged 2 to 22 years). Based on qualitative study, a focus group was undertaken for collecting data. Content analysis was carried out on the transcribed interviews.
RESULTS: As a result of their perceptions, families report alteration of five themes of FQOL when their was a child with DD. Including, 1) family interaction 2) parenting 3) physical and material wellbeing 4) emotional wellbeing, and 5) disability-related support.
CONCLUSIONS: The findings lead to further formulate standard measurement in order to assess FQOL that more sensitive for Thai families who have a child with DD. These can help communities prioritize their concerns, practical implications for health policies on children with DD and their families.
