Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate growth performances and estimate genetic parameters of growth traits in Black chicken included Black Hmong(BM), Brown Hmong(BrM), Black Chinese(BC) and crossbred (Black Hmong x Pradu Hang Dam)(BM x PD). Growth trait was separated as five body weight at 0, 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. The genetic parameters were estimated by multiple-traits model via Restricted Maximum Likelihood technique (REML) using BLUPF90 Chicken PAK2.5. The results showed that heritability of birth weight were high (0.97-0.99) in all breeding. For body weight at 4, 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age, were 0.09-0.43 in BM, 0.20-0.31 in BrM, 0.51-0.81 in BC, and 0.08-0.22 in BMxPD. Higher heritability is the greater genetic control on the trait, which result in genetic progress. Results from this study showed that Black Chinese and Brown Hmong can select more rapidly to improve through breeding program
