| Abstract |
This article aims to study the critical success factors of MICE Destination City, to analyze the state of MICE Destination City in Khon Kaen Province, and to suggest the guidelines for being the city in Thailand. The research methodology consisted of the study in theoretical approach and related literature including MICE industry and critical success factors of MICE Destination City or MICE city, both of domestic and international levels. The research instrument was to study the secondary data by using Technical Success Factor regarding to the following up and evaluation from Leading Indicators such as incidence, activity, or task. Consequently, the factors affecting process success would be determined. Then, factors in selecting MICE Destination City would be classified. In addition, the data outcome of Khon Kaen Province would be analyzed. The research findings found that the critical success factors consist of 9 factors including: (1) Infrastructure and accessibility, including transportation within the city to the venue. (2) Government support and partnerships. (3) More activities and attraction such as pre-conference tours or post-conference tours. (4) Accommodation and facilities. (5) Convention and exhibition facilities. (6) Image and Reputation of MICE City. (7) City environment. (8) Safety and security. (9) Service quality and professionalism of staff. Evaluating Khon Kaen Province based on criterion of destination city, found that it consists of all of 9 factors. Since it is comprised of venue which can accommodate over 3,000 people attending the event, and convenient transportation by land and air. Moreover, there were high quality staffs, a high standard of MICE industries, supported by both of public and private sectors in the area, good quality infrastructure and facilities, and tourism for MICE delegates. Therefore, Khon Kaen is capable and ready to support MICE, and include potential to facilitate its development as a MICE city. |
