| บทคัดย่อ |
This study was undertaken with an objective to learn how a successful rural cooperative is managed by studying a successful rural cooperative by the name Samcholing Green Tea Cooperative under Drakten Block of Trongsa District, Bhutan. Data for the study were generated through face-to-face semi-structured questionnaire interviews with the key informants, focus group discussion with the chairperson and other members, and open participatory discussions with the leaders of the local block administration and local agricultural extension office. This study has found out that the cooperative’s use of the democratic principle of ‘one member one vote’ in electing the executive board members, holding of general assembly once in every year for all the members, maintenance and preparation of financial and accounting reports, preparation and presentation of work progress reports, specified job responsibilities for the board members, and consistent support from the government, not only contributed to improved management system but also enhanced participation by the members in making decisions and carrying out activities for the cooperative.
