Abstract Sintered metal alloy has been developed for the fabrication of metal substructure for porcelain veneering in metal-ceramic restorations with high reliability through CAD-CAM technology. This study evaluated the metal-ceramic bond strength of cast Ni-Cr, cast Co-Cr, sintered Co-Cr and milled Co- Cr alloys to porcelain through two application procedures including the layering porcelain technique and hot-pressed porcelain technique. Porcelain materials (Ø 8 mm, 1.5 mm thickness) were veneered by either the layering or hot-pressed technique to be fused to each type of metal disc (12×12×0.5 mm) (sample size, n=15). The shear bond strength was determined on a universal testing machine at a cross head speed of 0.5 mm/min. The bond strength of the sintered Co-Cr alloys was comparable to the others. The mean of metal-ceramic bond strength was significantly higher for the hot-pressed porcelain application technique than that for the layering porcelain application technique for all the tested alloys (p-value<0.05)
