Research Title Teacher's Knowledge Management Process in Developing Thai Reading Competency for Students with Learning Disabilities in Primary School Level

     Abstract The students with learning disabilities were classroom students with special needs for Thai Language listening, speaking, and reading. Beginning to develop the students’ reading ability would enhance the students’ ability in communicating Thai language with more complexity further. The objective of this research was to study the teacher’s knowledge management process affecting Thai reading competency for students with learning disabilities by using Qualitative Research. The target group included one Thai Language Teacher, Tung-sri-muang Prachawit School, Muang District, Kalasin Province, being awarded best practice in North Eastern Region for teaching students with learning disabilities for being competent in Thai Language Reading. Data were collected by videotape recording, interviewing, knowledge management observation, children’s reading performance. They were analyzed by Protocol Analysis, Reading Test, and Analytic Description. Research findings found that: 1. For knowledge management process, the teacher planned and designed the learning activity management in Thai Language Reading for students with learning disability by analyzing the core curriculum of basic education 2008 and individual student, establishing knowledge management plan, organizing the knowledge sheet and reading lesson, knowledge management media, and students’ evaluation form. The teaching innovation was the big book. The processes were as follows: 1) The preparation, the teacher made plan in advance including learning activity to provide for students by evaluating their basic reading basic through reading behavioral observation in classroom, and classification form for identifying the students with learning disability. 2) The learning activity management in Thai learning activity, the teacher read big book for students by repeated reading for 3 times. Then, the students read. The meaning vocabularies were explained. The students expressed their opinion through the illustration. The teacher used leaded question. 3) Using the media in learning activity management, the media using for learning activity management, was developed by teacher including the big book, sentence strip, and worksheet. 4) The measurement and evaluation, after completing each unit of the knowledge management, the students’ word reading were evaluated by using the word reading record. 2. For Thai reading ability of students with learning disability, found that their reading ability was in “Good” level. They could read 80% of specified word test correctly.
