Abstract Elderly people are special group that faces many aging changes. These changes lead to chronic conditions, and death eventually. A chronic disease deteriorates physical and psychosocial health, reduces quality of life and affects subjective well-being in elderly. Literatures found Subjective Well-Being (SWB) might be a protective factor for health, reducing the risk of chronic physical illness, and promoting longevity among the elderly, this study aimed to assessed SWB and related factors among community-dwelling elderly of Udon Thani Province, Thailand. A descriptive study was conducted. The sample size calculated using simple random sampling. Questionnaire composed of three parts: general information, health status, and WHO SWB index administered to 838 elderly respondents aged from 60. Descriptive statistics, 95% CI, Chi-squared, crude odds ratio and multiple logistic regression applied for data analysis. Response rate 97.91%, majority female aged 60 - 69 years. Mean score for SWB 3.30 (SD 0.81) from highest score of 5. Proportion of high level SWB was 83.7% (95%CI: 80.93, 86.40). Controlling other related factors, findings show marital status (Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 2.62 95%CI: 1.65, 4.16), participating in elderly club (1.84 95%CI: 1.13, 2.99), regular exercise (1.99 95%CI: 1.22, 3.29) and no suspected dementia (6.00 95%CI: 1.06, 33.85) statistically related to SWB. This study provides practical implications associated with a better understanding of SWB among the elderly, and to promote a high level of SWB, it is important to consider elderly targets with no spouse, participating in an elderly club and continuing exercise. Also, dementia prevention among the elderly is highly recommended for intervention.
