Abstract |
The major objective of this research was to develop and validate the quality of an assessment tool for evaluating the mathematical reading, analytical thinking, and mathematical writing of fourth-grade students. There were 222 fourth grade students with diverse capabilities levels randomly selected from Thai primary schools as respondents. Multidimensional Random Coefficients Multinomial Logit Model was applied to validate the quality of the developed assessment tool. A construct modeling approach and design-based research methodology were adopted to develop the assessment tool encompassing four phases as follows: (i) solve the students’ mathematical problems to develop an assessment tool; (ii) develop the assessment tool;
(iii) validate the quality of the developed assessment tool, and (iv) report the quality of the assessment tool. The results of this research indicated that the assessment tool consists of 19 questions in two dimension and the quality passed the determined Education and Psychological assessment criteria. The test of the Likelihood-Ratio showed that the multidimensional model is relevant to the data at the highest level. It can be concluded that each question is qualified to assess the students and relevant to the developed dimensional examination structure. |
