| บทคัดย่อ |
Currently, the MICE industry is playing a major role in city’s development and becoming key mechanisms in driving global economic growth. The purpose of this article
was to examine the best practices of sustainable MICE cities in Asia. Multi- case studies were analyzed in order to determine the top scoring destinations and to categorize the highest sustainable performance from the Global Destination Sustainability Index (2018). The results indicated that the sustainable MICE cities in Asia are as follows: 1)
Kyoto (Japan) has the best practice for the environment, which is based on their achievements from Kyoto’s carbon offset program for meetings and conventions; 2) Sapporo (Japan) has the best practice in social practices since the city offers the convenient transportation and facilities for people with disabilities and for visitors, who come with children; 3) Goyang (South Korea) has the best practice in the area of MICE suppliers because the Goyang MICE Alliance (GMA) was established to develop competitiveness among the MICE cities; and4) Bangkok (Thailand) has the best practice in the area of Convention & Visitors Bureaus since the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau launched the Food Waste Prevention program for the purpose of encouraging the MICE operators and engaging with them in order to reduce and better manage food wastage. To sum up, this article contributes to the conceptual framework for sustainable
MICE cities and Convention & Visitors Bureaus, which can be established as sustainable policies for MICE cities in different regions. |
