| บทคัดย่อ |
Tree plantation has become an important cultivation for farmer of northern Laos where it has replaced a large share of traditional upland rice cultivation. However, this plantation is on the mountain that may cause the soil degradation in long term land use. Therefore, this study aimed to assess soil fertility after long period of tree plantation. The experimental area of this study was: 12-years old rubber plantations, teak plantation and natural forest as the comparing study. Soil fertility was determined by chemical methods in six layers 0-10, 10-20, 30-40, 60-70, 100-110 and 150-160 cm depth. We found that long term tree plantation still have lower soil fertility compared to natural forest. Organic carbon and total nitrogen were lower in rubber tree plantations than in the forest and teak tree plantation. Available P and exchangeable K tended to decrease on the top soil. Tree plantations were not effect to soil pH. So soil mulching is required in case of sustainable land use, in case of farmer need to change to the other alternative crop if natural rubber provides low benefit. |
