     Abstract This research is a study of translation strategies about translating 112 idioms from Chinese to Thai in the book sets of Common Knowledge about China of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Office of Chinese Language, published by Higher Education Press in 2007 by using translation theory of Peter Newmark and the data presentation was analytical research. The results of the research show that there are 7 translation strategies are founded in the book sets as following: 1) 41 idioms using communicative translation 2) 28 idioms using free translation 3) 18 idioms using faithful translation 4) 9 idioms using semantic translation 5) 6 idioms using literal Translation 6) 6 idioms using delete translation 7) 1 idiom using word-for-word translation. Furthermore, there are 3 idioms translated in wrong meaning.
